Looking for Patio Ideas & Furniture? |
Patio TablesPatio tables have been around since before the patio. In the most general sense, the term patio refers to any wider, yet nearby to a residence, and paved common area that is used primarily for food and gatherings involving the preparation and consumption of food. A patio can mean an out door garden area that is reserved mostly for dining and recreation and adjoins a residence or residences. Typically, patios are paved. More specifically, a patio tends to refer to a roofless courtyard that is innermost in a residence or a collection of residences. This type of outdoor garden and eating area is often found in Spanish-style dwellings. Most patios are made of concrete or stone and are laid over a very firm base that has been formed fro ma layer of compacted hardcore, a layer of sharp sand and a stratum of cement mortar. The soundness and firmness of the base or sub-floor is critical for forming a stable and even top, visible portion of the pavement. Traditionally, patio furniture tends to have a somewhat Spanish style to it, with wrought irons styling and details to red stained wood slatted benches and table tops. Of course the term 'patio tables' has grown to include several other definitions. For example, more recently the term has been most applicably sub-categorized in terms of functionality. For example, the term 'patio tables' means simply the type of table that can withstand outdoor conditions in order to serve as an adequate outdoor table. These naturally include a regular amount of chairs and typically involve some sort of sun protection, such as a patio table umbrella. Most home stores and home improvement stores carry a wide array of patio tables and other outdoor patio furniture and accessories. This is a great place to start though you may have trouble finding exactly what you're looking for if you have a particular style in mind. For more particular tastes, you may have better luck with a specialized outdoor entertainment or barbeque store. If, on the other hand, you're looking for something functional and as inexpensive as possible, then you're sure to find suitable patio tables at one of the more common and popular home stores. These are generally plastic or resin poured and formed materials that are not especially attractive, yet have some advantages uniquely their own. For one, the cheaper plastic patio tables are very easy to clean. These types of patio tables are nearly impossible to stain or scar permanently. With some soap and water these tables clean up easily after having family and friends over for barbeque. The type of patio tables that best fir your needs depend on factors beyond price. For example, if you have children, you may as well purchase an easier to clean and less expensive patio table. You'll have plenty of time to get a more sophisticated and harder to clean patio table when the kids are somewhat more grown. |
